Are you associated with a church or denomination?

Chi Alpha is sponsored by the Assemblies of God. That means the AG provides each local campus with support, resources and connectivity to a larger worldwide movement. They also work to equip the leaders of each local XA, both the vocational missionaries associated with each group and the student leaders. The sponsorship by the Assemblies of God does not mean that you have to have a history with the AG. You don’t have to have any particular denominational connection to be welcomed in our groups.

What is your doctrine?

  1. we believe… the Bible is God’s message to us. so we seek… to understand and obey its truth.
  2. we believe… there is one God who is three persons. so we yearn… to know Him in all of His complexity and beauty.
  3. we believe… Jesus is fully God and fully human. so we rejoice… that Christ can be a bridge between us and God.
  4. we believe… people, throughout history, have sinned against God. so we are… deeply aware that we too are marked by willful disobedience.
  5. we believe… God extends forgiveness to us through Christ. so we repent…. and rejoice in our forgiveness.
  6. we believe… God offers freedom from sin’s grasp. so we live… lives that are pleasing to God.
  7. we believe… followers of Jesus must be empowered by the Holy Spirit. so we expect… supernatural power in our daily lives.
  8. we believe… that God can heal both the body and the heart. so we pray… with faith and hope.
  9. we believe… the mark of surrender to the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues. so we pray… that God would grant us this supernatural gift.
  10. we believe… in the Church. so we live… in this community of faith, inviting others to join us.
  11. we believe… God gives leaders as gifts to His Church. so we serve… those whom the Lord entrusts to us.
  12. we believe… God commands his followers to celebrate communion and baptism. so we practice… these symbolic actions, reflecting on their significance.
  13. we believe… Jesus will return to claim His Church. so we live… in expectancy of his coming.
  14. we believe… Christ will one day be seen clearly as King on earth. so we live… as citizens of His Kingdom now.
  15. we believe… God is the ultimate Judge. so we live… knowing that our choices will echo through eternity.
  16. we believe… we will live with God forever. so we live… with hope regardless of our circumstances.

Are you in need of volunteer work?

Yes and here are some ways you can help.

  • Monday Munch: This is a free lunch we offer to students. It is a bridger event to bring students together and share a meal together. You or your church can help us by serving students, cooking food, sponsoring food to be catered/purchased.
  • Interviews and tabling
  • Work a camera, interview students, get students signing release forms, carry stuff.
  • XA House Renovations: Under our “needs list” you will find several of our current needs. One of these is renovations. Let us know what you are good at and if you have zero skills, you can hand us tools or Gatorade.

Are you in need of additional staff?

Yes. There is plenty of room to grow on our staff team. If you are interested in becoming a voluntary staff, or a part or full-time missionary associate, you can fill out a missionary associate application and send it to us.

What is the process of becoming a campus missionary with you?

Download and fill out the application And send it to us at:

The Amherst Project 47 McKinley Ave. South Hadley, MA 01075

We have a church near a college. Could you help us start something?

Please contact us if you are interested in starting a Chi Alpha Campus Ministry on your local college. There are materials for you and we want you to help resource, encourage, and help you launch a successful ministry.

I have property in Amherst, how could you use it to minister to students?

Nothing builds community like having a place to just BE together. Our students need opportunities to live together, grow together, hold Bible studies, practice hospitality, and pray together. The university doesn’t allow us much access to rooms more than once a week. Having places to meet for worship, prayer, discipleship, and prayer, hosting Alpha courses, etc. could greatly multiply our ability to minister.

I have a child going to school at umass or one of the five colleges.

We have an online form you can fill out for us to get in touch with them. We are also in the process of leasing a house for the Fall 2011-Spring 2012 academic year on 768 Pleasant St. right on campus. Feel free to stop in and have some tea or coffee and meet the staff and students.

Are there other chi alpha groups in new England? Where are they?

We are currently on several campuses in the New England states. You can find out more information at www.newenglandchialpha.com

Could you give us a campus tour?

Campus tours are always happening. Contact the help desk in the campus center. We would be glad to show you around as well, including local churches, good eats, etc.

I would like to visit, could you host us?

Yes, we would love to meet you and show you around campus. Do you like coffee?
